I've been coaching my son Jack for 3+ years. He has seen great improvement in his 5K times and improves with every race. I coached him to a World Record Half Marathon in March of 2015, with a 1:31:08 time for a 10 year old (Association of Road Racing Statistics).

About Melissa

Melissa's joy of running has endured for for 20+ years. She started in HS where she competed in cross country and track. Today she is coaching runners of all ages to achieve more. In her own words, "Running is my passion, I work hard at it, and I love helping others achieve their goals.  I can help you set goals and reach those goals, whether its completing a 5k or qualifying for the Boston Marathon." Melissa is also a regular yoga practitioner and has developed a practice over the past five years, "I believe it can help any athlete, from beginner to advanced, at any point in the training cycle." She is certified in 'Yoga for Athletes' as well as 'Piyo' and teaches a weekly class at a studio in Sacramento. Yoga not only balances the body, but helps work on mental focus, breathing, and recovery.  Please contact me for more information about how I can help you with including yoga in your plan.

  • RRCA Certified coach since 2015 (Road Runners Club of America)

  • 20 completed marathons

  • Numerous half marathons, 10k's, and 5k's completed

  • 100k Finisher, 2nd overall woman Santa Barbara Endurance Race July 2016

  • Boston Marathon 2015 Finisher

  • Boston Marathon 2017 Finisher

  • Assistant High School Cross Country and Track Coach in Sacramento, California.

  • Certified "Yoga For Athletes" teacher (August 2017)

Yoga

Yoga is a regular part of my training program, visit Natomas Yoga Studio to try it out!  Come take one of my Hot Piyo classes - Tuesdays from 5-6pm  - a great strength/stretching workout! If not local or can't join, yoga videos for runners will be coming by end of summer 2017 for home use.  Also available for one-on-one sessions or group yoga classes.
